When Pluto Loves Up Saturn: May 24th - Sept 1st 2025

It's a Daddy Issue on the Mend. How does Your Sign Feel?

Sometimes the mythology beats cookbook astrology on how planets hook up. The Roman Saturn was the Big Daddy and the Titan God known to the Greeks as Chronos, who swallowed his first five kids to avoid any possible de-throning of his power. (He was supposed to swallow the last born, Jupiter, but mom Ops/Rhea tricked him with a swaddled stone and later mom and her son would rescue the siblings from Daddy’s tummy. Yep, better than a goth soap opera).

Pluto/Hades, one of those kids that was eventually vomited back up, now moves through early Aquarius for the first time in 248 years just as his father edges into Aries for the first time in 29.5 years.

This father-son sextile perfects at 5 degrees on March 24 2026, but until then, it’s a cat and mouse game between the duo. Last time these two hugged and made up in a sextile in these signs was April 22, 1792.

Yet even a ‘happy sextile” when it involves Pluto is not always a bed of roses.

The Last Time This Happened

For instance, in 1792 the French abolished the Monarchy (officially), declared itself a republic and then the infamous mass killing of prisoners happened in Paris from September 2 to September 6 —a major event of what is sometimes called the “First Terror” of the French Revolution. Saturn who rules prisons and dungeons (places of isolation) was overthrown and castrated by his kids, so yeah, there’s that.

That same year war broke out between Russia and Poland. That war, which took place between May and July 1792, resulted in a Russian victory and paved the way for the Second Partition of Poland. Bottom Line” Russia expanded its territory in a land grab from its neighbour. Look for echoes of this in the closing out of the Ukraine Russia conflict.

On a more positive note….

George Washington was elected to a second term in 1792 and the New York Stock Exchange was founded that year — Saturn gave structure to Pluto’s riches. And let’s not forget, Saturn’s not always a bad guy: the Romans gave him jurisprudence over agriculture, and for that reason, he also ruled over the Golden Age of abundance and peace. (One has to wonder if those Olympian kids should have been digested and excreted vs puked back up ).

It’s About Cycles

One key reminder — this is the opening sextile which is a part of a synodic cycle that began in Capricorn on January 12, 2020 when Saturn and Pluto joined forces in a conjunction.

That conjunction heralded the pandemic, inflationary money printing, the WEF suspicions and governments spin-cycling medical safety on largely untested protocols and clamping down on “we the people” with lockdowns This cycle does not close out with a new conjunction until 2053 when they re-unite in Pisces.

Back to this current opening sextile within the bigger 33 year cycle.

When Saturn enters Aries this May 24/25 he only makes it to the 1st degree before turning around mid July on a mission to return to Pisces Sept 1st. Meanwhile Pluto is already in retrograde motion through to October, and so long story short they don’t quite connect.

In astro-parlance we could say they fail to perfect the sextile, or they “refrain” from a perfect union. This is therefore a hint of the real deal to come in 2026.

For now Pluto’s avoiding his Dad moving retrograde and in the opposite direction as Saturn until July 13th when Saturn turns retrograde to chase after his son. But alas, daddy Saturn ducks into in Pisces for five months and the Big Hug Sextile does not happen until both are in direct motion at the 5th degree of Aries/Aquarius in March of 2026.

Here’s that chart and then, let’s do a check in for how this unrequited love might feel for your rising or sun sign between now and then.
